TAMBUTI FILMS
is a young independent production company that is dedicated to the
art of investigative documentaries.
It takes its name from the Tambuti tree, which provides shade
from the hot African Sun. It is under the branches of this tree that
people gather from surrounding villages and hold an Ndaba - a
meeting where they collectively share news, ideas and find solutions
to pressing problems.
Started in 2001, TAMBUTI FILMS operates on the principle that there
is more to events than headlines. It seeks to go under the surface
and to find the real story, concentrating on those who never have a
voice…the Bushmen, the disabled, the Agent Orange victims, AIDS
sufferers, Kurdish refugees, repressed religious adherents.
Taking a fully objective stance, TAMBUTI FILMS productions show a
comprehensive view of the injustices imposed by the greater powers
on the silent and dispossessed.
Films made by TAMBUTI FILMS have raised awareness of little known
issues by been broadcast, screened at educational institutions,
viewed by interested parties and used at fundraising events.
